Elivs said it: “A little less conversation, a little more action please.” Now, he didn’t quite mean it in the same context I as am using it, but it concludes my thoughts all the same….
(Rorie steps up to soapbox) I am truly tired of people’s “ideas.” Ideas are useless unless they are backed up and followed through. My father-in-law once pointed out the ignorance of John Mayer’s song “Waiting on the World to Change.” And, even though the song is catchy and this is the attitude I have sometimes, it does seem like an ignorant way to live. “Be the change you want to see in the word,” shouldn't that be the attitude to take? Stop spouting off your ideas and continuing to sit on your ineffectual bum.
There are several proverbs from diverse cultures outlining equivalent thoughts, encouraging the same behavior:
A promise is a cloud; fulfillment is rain. ~Arabian Proverb
When deeds speak, words are nothing. ~African Proverb
Talk doesn't cook rice. ~Chinese Proverb
The first step binds one to the second. ~French Proverb
Between saying and doing many a pair of shoes is worn out. ~Italian Proverb

Along that line of thought, I've noticed that many of the people who complain a lot say that "someone" needs to do something. Um, why not be that someone?
