This is what I am living by now. I used to vow to never be a push-over, but that is because I slid myself over before the other person had the opportunity to do so.... this was my fault. It was my issue that I was not standing up for myself and my worth.
But, this was only my issue until I made it known. Once I brought this to light it was in the other person's court to either acknowledge and act upon or ignore it. Unfortunately some people choose to ignore the fact that they minimize you.

This is where I grew enough in myself to walk away. I left a marriage and a few long time friendships for this very reason. Some spectators may view this as selfish, but in actuality it is quite healthy. I have gained an amount of emotional energy from not pouring myself into anyone that does not replenish me. Granted, I have fewer people to turn to- but if that handful of people will always be there, why spread yourself thin over those that won't....

This is my motto and slightly more harsh take on The Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

For some reason, whether the more traditional phrase or my modernized one, this is a hard concept for people to grasp. I am not going to offer you respect, trust or support that you are not willing to offer me. At the same time, I will not offer you harsh words or hard times if undeserved.

Rules of the Road
Some people actually have to be places on Sundays... your mid afternoon jolly ride is obstructing others.

If you have an Ole Miss license plate or decal on the back of your vehicle, you have your head up your ass when you are behind the wheel. This is not a collegiate rivalry issue- this is fact based on numerous observations of mine and my favorite police.
70 year old women with hunched backs should not be truck drivers.
You should not walk on the side of a busy highway during 5 o'clock traffic. Ever.
Turning your hazard lights on does not grant you the right to go 30 mph on the interstate, nor does it give you a pass to go 90 mph.

THE MOST DESTRUCTIVE THING YOU CAN DO TO YOUR HOME IN TEN MINUTES:
Me and my handy handsome partner managed to harm some sheet rock, drop (three times) and break the shower curtain rod in question....
There were foul words. Is this really a task that takes a professional? There are not even directions that come with the rod. I do not understand the complications of this seemingly simple task.....
