We are young only once, after that we need some other excuse.

Everyone is the age of their heart. ~Guatemalan Proverb

I am officially 22 today, but I am not quite sure about the age of my heart? Very thought provoking proverb there.....

I do know this to be true:

We turn not older with years, but newer every day. ~Emily Dickinson

Music, Mud and Madness!

Jazz Fest in New Orleans this weekend...just too many stories to share.

We danced in the rain, soaked to the bone, ditched the shoes and became one with the mud. It was the most free my spirit has felt in a while.

Dr. John livened the grey day with his upbeat sounds. And later in the wet evening, between all of his classic songs, Billy Joel busted out a version of "Singing in the Rain!" It was perfect, because that is exactly what all of us were doing.

By the time we left, we were all wading in water up to our waist. This led to the demise of several digital cameras and cell phones, but the memories created by our endless laughter will be forever remembered.

Some things to be taken away from this experience: Embrace the rain, new friends are easily made when you are sharing great music, pot will be present at every concert, and cell phones are not the most important thing in life!

Losing my Ground

Though she is far better known for her overplayed songs such as Fergalicious, Glamorous, and London Bridge, Fergie (Stacy Ferguson) has got some much deeper lyrics within her CD.

I think I have listened to this song about fifteen times today.........

Don't know what day it is
What's going on?
Is this real?
Oh no, no, no, no, no

I woke up short of breath,
But I've still got a long day ahead of me
I don't know what day it is
But tell me 'cuz I gotta know who to be
Is that me up in the mirror?
'Cuz I thought it was somebody else
Well it's a realization,
When you find out you don't even wanna look at yourself

Where do I go?
What do I do?
Who do I turn to?
I'm losing my ground
Who am I now?
Where does it end?
How did it all begin?
I'm losing my ground

Well, hit my feet,
It's time to hit the streets
And get my life back together again
Well, this place is all a masquerade
So tell me where in line can I cut in?
Downtown wandering aimlessly around
Still don't know what I'm tryin' to find
Well you could flash all the pretty lights in front of me,
I still won't see the signs

Where do I go?
Who do I turn to?
I'm losing my ground
Who am I now?
Where does it end?
How did it all begin?
I'm losing my ground

What do I do?
Why do I do this to myself?
Don't wanna go back there

Conscience keeps more people awake than coffee.

I despise those nights where you wake up every two hours, or so. Your mind is filled with all the things you "should have," "could have," or "would have" done or said. Like at two o'clock in the morning you are actually going to be able to do anything productive to reach a state of resolution....

Still, you remain awake to contemplate the previous day or days, then soon find it is time to get up and begin another. I am yawning this morning, no more clear on life than I was last night, but I surprisingly still have a pleasant demeanor and that is really as much as I could hope for at the moment.

There is no pillow so soft as a clear conscience. ~French Proverb

I wish everyone restful, thoughtless sleep throughout their week!
Stay busy, get plenty of exercise, and don't drink too much. Then again, don't drink too little.

~Herman "Jackrabbit" Smith-Johannsen

Doggie did it- I got tagged!

The rules are:

1. The rules of the game get posted at the beginning.

2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.

3. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog.-----

My inner advisor is dying to heal me. ~Astrid Alauda

The most simple advice is sometimes still the hardest to follow..........

Aulus Cornelius Celsus, a Roman encyclopedist, said:

Live in rooms full of light (...but the dark calms me?)
Avoid heavy food (...does this mean no fettuccine alfredo?)
Be moderate in the drinking of wine (...define "moderate?")
Take massage, baths, exercise, and gymnastics (...I got this!)
Fight insomnia with gentle rocking or the sound of running water (...hmmmm)
Change surroundings and take long journeys (...if it were only that easy)
Strictly avoid frightening ideas (...and scary movies?)
Indulge in cheerful conversation and amusements (...look forward to this daily)
Listen to music. (...yay! I got this one down too!)
